William Everett and Mary Ellen Mealman Scholarship (college students)

The purpose of this scholarship fund shall be to help individuals escape from the cycle of poverty through education assistance.

Students eligible for assistance shall:

  1. Reside in Johnson, Wyandotte, Leavenworth, Miami, Linn, Crawford and Bourbon counties in Kansas, and Jackson, Clinton, Platte and Clay counties in Missouri;
  2. Demonstrate good moral character, financial need, determination and the potential for academic success;
  3. Be enrolled or planning to enroll in an accredited secondary or post-secondary educational institution, including middle school, high school, college, junior college, community college, graduate and professional school, and trade school on a full or part time basis.

Applicants whose past academic performance may have been average, but they exhibit the promise of a greater academic success through the application of improved study habits, should be given strong consideration. Preference may be given to applicants attending or planning to attend a two year college offering an associates degree, community college or Baker University.

This scholarship is renewable provided the student is making progress toward successful completion of the course of study for which the scholarship was originally awarded, provided funds are available.
