QTS Student Scholarship

In support of our Core Value of Support for Family, we (Quality Technology Services, LLC) are pleased to offer the QTS Student Scholarship Program. This program provides competitive, need-based scholarships with a maximum annual award of $5,000 which can be used to cover higher education expenses including tuition, room and board, and other institutional expenses related to receiving a degree. The scholarship is renewable for a total of four years of college education as long as the student meets the renewal requirements.

The QTS Student Scholarship is available only to children of current QTS employees or deceased employees. Within the scope of this program, “child” means a dependent natural or adopted child or a dependent stepchild or ward of a QTS employee who resides within the employee’s home. The child must be unmarried, under the age of 24, and a citizen or permanent legal resident of the United States at the time of application. Eligible dependents of current employees must be listed on line 6c of the employee’s most recent federal tax return when the employee is listed on line 6a or 6b.

The parent on whom the application is based must be:

  1. a current employee with at least one year (12 months) of full-time, continuous service on the date the application is due, or
  2. an employee who died while a full-time QTS employee who had completed at least one year (12 months) of continuous service by the application due date. Children of executive-level personnel (C-level and Vice Presidents) are not eligible for consideration.

Preference will be given to a student applicant wishing to receive a first-time award in order to pursue a degree program, and the applicant must be a high school or home-schooled senior, a high school graduate, or a current postsecondary undergraduate student. An applicant may be eligible to apply for a scholarship to take effect in years after the first year of college if the applicant’s parent did not have the required one-year of service when the student began his or her college experience. In order to be considered for selection, a student must have been accepted for full-time undergraduate study for the upcoming academic year at an accredited institution of higher education which is chartered within the United States.

All students of QTS employees (with the exception of C-level and VP children) are eligible to apply regardless of race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, gender, disability or national origin.

Applicants for a first-time scholarship should be a student in good standing with a GPA of no less than 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Applicants must submit a QTS Scholarship Application including a brief essay (1000 words or less).

In addition, applicants must submit their ACT and/or SAT score, along with a personal/professional recommendation, preferably from a teacher, principal, or school counselor on the attached form. Home school students can get a referral letter from a pastor, coach, or other official party who knows them well and can vouch for their accomplishments and character. In order to be considered, an applicant must have a composite ACT score of at least 22, and a SAT score of at least 1100 (according to new scoring guidelines).

If selected as a recipient, a student will receive a $5,000 scholarship award to be applied in two equal installments for the following academic year of undergraduate study. The first installment will be made prior to the Fall semester after the recipient confirms the college/university in which they will be enrolled with the Greater Kanas City Community Foundation. The second installment will be made once the recipient provides the Community Foundation with their cumulative transcript after the Fall semester demonstrating they have maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Checks will be mailed to the recipient’s college/university and will be made co-payable to the student and the school in which the student is enrolled.

Students requesting an award renewal must submit their cumulative transcript following each semester demonstrating they meet the GPA and credit hour enrollment requirements in order for the next payment to be released. Students may renew a scholarship award for up to three additional years beyond the first scholarship year. In order to qualify for renewal, a student must be single and provide their cumulative transcript after each semester demonstrating that they have maintained a full-time student status and maintain at least a 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. In addition, continued eligibility is based on availability of funds.
