Phyllis A. Washington Scholarship Fund

This fund was established in honor of Phyllis A. Washington, a long-time Principal and Superintendent at Allen Village School in Kansas City, Missouri. The scholarship was established to provide support to graduating high school students pursuing a post-secondary education.

The students eligible for assistance shall:

  1. be graduating seniors from Allen Village School;
  2. intend to continue their education through a two or four year college, university and/or technical school.
  3. have a minimum 3.0 cumulative high school GPA.

Scholarships will be awarded on an annual basis and disbursed in August. Scholarships will be made payable to the student. To qualify for disbursement, the recipient must maintain a 3.0 GPA for the final semester of high school and provide proof of this requirement by submitting a final transcript. The awardee must also provide proof of enrollment and a class schedule for the fall semester.
Three scholarships will be given in the spring of 2026 with a minimum amount of $1000 each. At this time scholarships are non-renewable unless a student is studying to be a teacher in the field of education at an accredited college or university. Applications are due by midnight on April 4, 2026.
